OJUDE OBA
OJUDE OBA is a famous outdoor event that is annually observed in the city of Ijebu-Ode in Ogun state, where all persons from different vicinities, home and away gather to celebrate not excluding the cultural norms, values and traditions.
Last year 2024, OJUDE OBA gained a large audience especially on the social media space with it's colourful display by the attendees in the Yoruba special attire popularly known as Aso-Oke or Aso-Ofi, styled in the most popular mode of dressing of Iro and buba (Wrapper and a 3-quarter sleeve length blouse) for the women while men graced theirs in Agbada and sokoto (A big folding style top and trouser). The both genders crown these dress mode with beads accessories and topnotch of shades to rock their styles excellently. You can imagine how those looks would come out in a grand style.... To add to the Art of this year event, a popularly known Nollywood actor took to the street of Ijebu-Ode to participate in the OJUDE OBA event on his horse, chanting beautifully as he's known for his beautiful artistry works. At some point, the crowd repeated his chants after him and this caused the event to take another beautiful side for the day.
Do you know the amazing part of this event that gets me amazed and fun-filled? It is the horse riding..... WOW
Don't get it twisted because it's not the normal horse views or your normal horses at the beach or a resort. These horses are beautifully costumed, royally, gracely if I'm permitted to use that word π
There's no better way to make the horses feel delighted and ready for a cultured show than this because if they can actually be interviewed (In my imaginary world though π) they would definitely express their excitements.
Ojude Oba through the years has been an amazing avenue to showcase the richness of the Yoruba people's culture, I think we should have more of such in other tribes to as to take our tradition worldwide and as well revive the drying tourism industry of our dear corntreeπΆπ«️.
ReplyDeleteHmm that's an awesome truth there and you also got me with the corntree π... Thanks for adding your thoughts π«Ά
